Learning from theDoHE: An example
by blogrdocLast Friday, I had a spill while skiing and lost my cell phone. I’ve been cell-phone-less for nearly a week now (which is a lesson in and of itself). I logged the event in theDoHE.
On my commute, I usually stuff my pager, moleskin and wallet into my pockets, but this morning, I threw them in my backpack. I can honestly say that as I was biking around, it felt great to be free from fear that I couldn’t possibly lose those items like I did my cell phone.
Here’s a challenge: find an ‘error’ (not necessarily yours). Log it into theDoHE, and see if you can’t learn from that mistake and apply that learning to real life. It really does feel great to learn from you mistakes.

I had a happy mistake. Instead of losing my cell, I accidentally left it in my car as I was heading out of town for a week. That was the quietest most enjoyable week I’ve had in a long time. We do have a friend who constantly loses her phone. As a gift, someone gave her a key chain with cord to attach to her jeans and her phone, so she couldn’t lose it.

There have been a few times since I lost the phone that I’ve caught myself being in a ‘fuller state of being present’ since there was no way for the outside world to contact me.
I highly reccomend going on a cell phone strike for 48 hours to anyone who hasn’t tried it. Though not in the way I have :(
Thanks for stopping by Dagny. I’m feeling the sustainable T-shirt thing. I’ve got a T-shirt that I’ve had for 20 years and it fits and feels great! Is that funny or what?
