The Jedi Mind Trick is real. Use it on your kids.

I started using the ‘jedi mind trick’ (JMT) on my son and I gotta tell you that it really works! He’s about to turn 4 and obedience isn’t his strong suit.

One thing I hate is seeing kids that walk all over their parents and don’t listen to them. Now, I’m not saying this doesn’t happen to me at times, but I can say that I’m learning what works and what doesn’t work.

By ‘use the Jedi Mind trick’, I really simply mean: tell your child directly what you want. Here’s some other pointers:
* Do it repeatedly if you have to.
* I do find that using a calm, rational tone helps.
* Give an explanation for why you want something
* Creatively change the way you ask for something. (e.g. instead of saying “Finish your food!”, I say “Please put your food in your stomach so you can use it later”)

Liked “Creatively…” part. Will surely try this out!

I forgot another very important part which is: “direct eye contact” and an appropriately chosen countenance. :)
