first baby step in taking the red pill
by blogrdocI was a junior in college when I made a single new year resolution. It was more of a motto than a resolution. It was the first baby step that has brought me to where I am today (for better or worse). Sometimes, I still internally recite it to myself to get myself moving. Here it is:
It’s never too late.
I remember repeating it to myself over and over. This simple 4 word sentence helped me get over a lot of my insecurities about doing stuff. I told myself, “You know… you’ve been putting [whatever] off for a while now, but I’m not going to give up on you (myself). It may be insignificant and I may get no recognition for it. I may or may not get anything out of it, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to just sit here and watch the world go by.”
I don’t know what made me so inspired by it, but it definitely got me going. I later ran for president for a student organization and won. Some lessons I got from that experience of leading that organization has stuck with me to this day. This is just one example of where a little bit of encouragement from yourself can go a long way.
