why blogrdoc?
by blogrdocAs I survey the rise in popularity of self-help blogs (fourhourworkweek, zenhabits, stevepavilina, gettingthingsdone, 43folders, lifehacker, etc…), I can’t help but wonder what has spurred this growth. What is encouraging to see is that these sites are largely providing real value with no-nonsense tips and tricks. One thing I’m fairly certain of is that in an increasingly connected world, more and more opportunities will be available to those who are ready. Those who are ready are the ones who (aside from being lucky) have cultivated the art of self-mastery.
Why should you subscribe to blogrdoc? What makes me any different from any of the other blogs out there? Well… not only is finding optimal solutions a passion of mine, it’s my job. I work semiconductor process engineer. Day in, day out , we pump out hundreds of thousands of electronic chips and every aspect of them must be perfect: chemically, mechanically and electronically. You can fool some people some of the time, but you can’t fool electrons ever.
See that picture of me off to the right? I literally look like a ninja. And that’s how I spend 6+ hours of my working days. The semiconductor world has run laps around practically every other technology in our ability to impose our will on a breathtakingly broad spectrum of natural phenomena (optics, chemistry, physics, mathematics, materials science, device physics, etc…)
In order to bring these processes into high volume manufacturing, the ability to manage personel and make quick decisions is critical. And that’s why I *love* my job. It’s totally sink or swim. As I posted earlier, a human error recently resulted in $1.7 million of damage. And that is the reality that I face every day. It’s hard not being in this environment without have some revelations about personal productivity and what does or doesn’t work. I am excited to share this thoughts with you just as excited I am to learn them myself every day on the job.
